"From This Oil Can" chords by Dan Andriano

Comments

Dan Andriano has been one of my favorite song writers for a long time. I loved the album Hurricane Season as soon as I heard it and immediately started learning a handful of songs. "From This Oil Can" was one of my favorite songs. I never found a copy of the chords that I felt was just right, so I'm sharing how I play it. If you have suggestions or tweaks, I'd love to hear them. Post them in the comments!

Intro: C* Am F (repeat x2)

Verse 1:
      C F
See a long time ago I didn't care so much
                Am
I kinda hated myself so much
             F
I watched my head just fly away
         C F
Out to a place where the sun doesn't shine so much
               Am
But I loved my bed so much
                 F
'Cause while I'd sleep I'd seem okay

Interlude:
C* Am F C* Am F
           I'd almost seem okay

Verse 2:
    C F
And I lost my life on the first try
                 Am
But you found it miles down the line
          F
A swollen face with all these names
             C F
And then you kissed the taste back into my tongue
           Am
Sucked the smoke out of my lungs
            F
And then we slept for days and days

Chorus:
    C Em F
Now from this oil can
    C Em F
Somehow, there grows an orchid
             C Am Em
And all your leaves were born in ashes
F G F
They will die in the sunlight
              C* Am F
Die in the sunlight

Interlude: C* Am F

Verse 3:
       C F
Well a long time ago I didn't care too much
              Am
But I love to drink so much
         F
I let my heart just float away
         C F
Out to a place where the songs they don't mean so much
            Am
I could not feel your touch
               F
Could not feel anything but pain

Chorus:
        C Em F
But now from this oil can
    C Em F
Somehow, there grows an orchid
             C Am Em
And all your leaves were born in ashes
F G F
They will die in the sunlight
              C* F
Die in the sunlight
        G C* F
They'll die in the sunlight
