In preparing for her third book release, author Christina Lane reached out about building a website that would both promote her as an author as well as promote her newest release, Phantom Lady: Hollywood Producer Joan Harrison, the Forgotten Woman Behind Hitchcock. With a unique focus on classic Hollywood, film history and contemporary women directors, Lane wanted a website that would scream classic Hollywood from the moment a user arrived.
Designing the site presented some unique challenges. First, unifying three artistic platforms—literary, film and digital/web. Lane desired a modern site that captured the essence of classic Hollywood yet preserved her identity as an author. Second, within those confines, Phantom Lady needed its own presence. The final design borrowed from the site's overall design as well as the Phantom Lady jacket in an attempt to give the feeling of blending the book with the website.
This was definitely one of the most art-driven sites I've worked on. It was a honor to be given the challenge and opportunity to create a platform for Lane to build her brand as an expert in classic Hollywood cinema.
